We’ve heard it a million times before as a justification for mistreating animals: “Animals aren’t people.” We are accused of anthropomorphizing – attributing human personality to animals.

How do we break through to people who roll their eyes when we say, “Just because animals don’t speak our language doesn’t mean they don’t experience the same emotions: fear, pain, hunger, thirst, fatigue, sadness.

Pictures speak a thousand words. If the naysayers don’t take our words seriously, then perhaps this video and the photos that follow will help them see the light:

Animalover’s comment should be broadcast over every tv and radio station, read in every classroom, posted on every bulletin board, and whatever else can be done to get this message to the entire population!

  2. Animalover says:

Those of us who have devoted our lives to advocating for animals do so because we have long recognized their intelligence, capacity for love and devotion and need for our protection from those who would use/abuse and exploit them. We live in a greedy, narcissistic society that has commodified these living, breathing beings, capable of suffering, feeling pain and a broad range of emotions. They are worthy individuals, who deserve dignity, respect and even admiration, for their natural beauty and talents, which in many instances, surpass our own. One day people will view the present-day treatment of animals as we today consider human sacrifice, slavery and the abuse of children and the elderly…with disgust and disbelief!

60 Minutes had a great piece last night on dogs and how this guy has proven that they make inferences and have the intelligence similar to that of a 2 year old. Pigs are even smarter.
