VIDEO: Anti-Fur Season Launched With A Bang
The News
On Columbus Day, one of the busiest shopping days of the year, dozens of animal rights activists in New York City staged a provocative anti-fur demonstration at the department store Macy’s, which sells fur garments in a section of the store called “The Fur Vault.”
The protest and educational outreach event, which was organized by the grassroots group Caring Activists Against Fur (CAAF), attracted the attention of thousands of pedestrians in midtown Manhattan.
Your Turn
Please boycott Macy’s and cancel your Macy’s credit card, if you have one. If you submit a photo of yourself holding a torn Macy’s card, TheirTurn will share it on social media to inspire others to boycott the store.
Great work, Activists! So many good intentions but too few boots on the ground. We need more. Meanwhile, send those photos of cut up Macy’s credit cards, even if you have to apply for one first.
I think it’s great that people are protesting, but I think this is a very poor target. There’s about 850 Macy’s stores…sorry but nobody is closing Macy’s fur vault down with a couple protests a year. They should be going after smaller and more realistic targets, which will actually cause financial loss to the business as well as educating the public. I’ve brought this to Julie’s attention before and all she did was delete my comment and block me from Facebook. This is a huge problem in the animal rights movement. There should be no leaders…especially when they have outdated methods and aren’t willing to take advice from others
I wasn’t aware that Macy’s sold fur. I was heading there for a watch purchase today but I will not make that purchase. I will look elsewhere. They will lose my business and I will tell everyone that they support the torture of innocent animals. Fur Sucks unless it is worn by the original owner!!
Compassion for all living things. What kind of statement are you making by buying or wearing fur? Shame on Macy’s.
Fantastic work US. Activists keep up the good work!
